Hi Leonarda
Hey Craig, what a great idea to have this forum to chat after the documentary! Sorry that Oscar couldn't make it today
Just a couple of questions, is relapsing a part of the recovery process and what can people do to move forward if they do relapse?
It would be great to hear about people's stories on what they did to get through a relapse - maybe what worked for them and what didn't?
In my experience relapse is a part of the journey but each time it can be used as a learning opportunity.................Why did it happen? What can I do about it so it doesn't happen again? It's like learning to live a new life, dealing with problems without that vice you've relied on for so long. It's like learning any new skill................you're going to make mistakes BUT THAT"S OKAY!!!
The earlier you acknowledge a relapse and reach out for help again the better. There's no shame in asking for help or admitting a mistake. Keeping it secret adds to its power and it will get worse and worse.
I know it sounds simplistic but if you relapse JUST OWN IT!!! Admit it and go back to basics.
