Feels good to be clean
So today I was able to retrieve something from a pawnbroker that I had put in to buy drugs. It feels good to be getting things out of pawn instead of wondering what else I have to pawn for extra cash. Today is a good day and days like this not only motivate me to continue to stay clean but prove to me that life without drugs really is better

Hi @Deyfhob
Well done!!
Its great to hear that you have found genuine joy from that, instead of chasing those false feelings from substances.
What else has worked for you?

Re: Feels good to be clean
@Calvin i struggle with this question because I don’t really know other than not wanting to die young, as I found out not too long ago I have the beginning of a lung disease that I have just lost my mum too. But other than that just not wanting to be a slave to drugs anymore is my biggest motivation. However I made that decision a lot of times before actually being able to get clean and stay that way, I’ve struggled with both ice and cannabis addiction in the past, I have been clean from ice for 14 months and was an everyday cannabis smoker for at least 20yrs and gave that up in January this year

Re: Feels good to be clean
Its good to hear that your outlook has changed and that you have kicked multiple habits as well. What type of supports have you got around you? Do you think seeing an alcohol drug counsellor would be beneficial to you?

Re: Feels good to be clean
@Calvin really just family and friends I have trusted, other than that not much and yes I do think seeing or speaking to a drug counsellor could be very beneficial. I have mental health issues also so sometimes it’s hard to actually get myself to do the things I know will help if that makes sense

Yes, it can sometimes feel overwhelming and at times difficult to take that next step toward seeking help. You've shown lots of strength and have achieved so much. Remind yourself of how much you have accomplished so far and keeping track of any other goals you would like to achieve can be helpful to. Have you researched any support services that offer AOD counselling?

I understand, it can be difficult and thats why the forums are so useful!
Other option for now is to speak with a counsellor through webchat, maybe that would be helpful to start with!

Hi @Deyfhob,
I'm wondering how you're travelling at the moment and if you've managed to reach out for any other support that isn't too overwhelming for you?
