From hospitals, intervention and detox centres - to now 250 days sober. I’m very grateful for this service.
For anyone out there, don’t give up. I know it can be such a dam tough journey. Reading my chat history, I once described a craving like a magnet pulling me - and that is my personal best definition for a craving. Recently, cravings once forgotten revisited me and I’m grateful they are now starting to ebb away. All I needed was one person in my life to give me the green light, and I would have drank. That is not a strong position to be in! Far too vulnerable! Lucky for me, it was the red light all around as everyone knows my history.
So, you can overcome those tough days. My biggest way to get through was buying myself time……. Delaying …. Also try to get full of food and drinks that are alcohol free. It’s harder to have that really intense craving when you are full.
Keep going! You are worth it, life is to messy when not in recovery for me.

Re: 250 days
@Dontknowatall I just want to say, thank you for sharing this! Congratulations on 250 days! That is so so impressive!
I'm certain that a lot of people here will relate to the journey you've been on and how hard you've worked to get to this stage! It sounds like you've had some wonderful supports around you and they have really helped with these recent urges!
I like that advice, keeping full to help keep those uges at bay!
Thank you again or sharing this and keep on keeping on!

Re: 250 days
Massive achievement @Dontknowatall !!!! Awesome to hear!
I like the tip about being full of food and water. I used to confuse hunger with cravings all the time and because alot of my substance use came in place of eating I had a lot of misunderstood cravings.
It's always great when someone shares their success on here because it's a real message of hope to others. With determination and support it is possible to turns things around. People try to do it alone all too often and whilst it can be done it's so much harder alone. It's great that you had the support but even greater that you listened to them. Sounds like things could have gone either way at times but you listened when people were trying to help you. Often people fight back against the support especially when the cravings hit so you've done really well.
It'd be great to hear how things progress for you so please keep us updated
