    So you say you want change........you say you want recovery...........but what does that mean???

    Some people say they want to stop using altogether, some just want to cut down, some are unsure what they want but there's a problem with all of these options.................the lack of specifics

    When you stop or cut down or figure out what you want as far as your substance use goes...........what next???

    Will you study?.........What will you study? Will it be Uni or Tafe? Which Tafe? How long is the course? Will you need a part time job while you study? Will you do retail, hospitality or make and sell your own candles?

    Will you travel?..........Where to? Overseas? South east asia? Europe? South America? Contiki tour or backpack on your own? How long will you go for? What's your weekly budget?

    Will you start playing sport?............What will you play? Is it year round or will you need another sport for summer or winter? Does a Wednesday night or Saturday morning work best? Will you play indoor or outdoor? Do you need to buy a uniform? Boots? registration fees?

    Will you buy a car?...........What colour? What make? What model? How much can you afford? Have you thought about petrol? Repairs? Insurance and rego?

    I could go on but you get the point.

    Believe it or not the stopping substances is the easy part.................the staying stopped is what's hard because after a while you'll start to look for "something". If you're not getting specific and thinking about direction and goals then you're making it harder. Failing to plan is planning to fail..........you gotta be working towards something.

    Just saying I want a better life isn't enough..........what are the specifics of what you're after???
