A question about saying No.

Fri Feb 01, 2019 3:24 pm

Hi all,
Just a question about how people go about saying no to others when they're offered a drink.
I definitely want to stop drinking and am just wondering what do others say or do when people ask if you would like a drink? I'm finding saying no difficult :( I'd really like some tips if anyone out there has any :)

Hi @CatsEye

Just a few suggestions:
[*]make light of it, say a joke, be polite
[*]ask for a non-alcoholic drink
[*]say that you are giving up alcohol to get healthier
[*]say you are not feeling, taking medication for ..., can't have alcohol with it
[*]wanting a break from alcohol
[*]feeling tired

Hope that helps.

Great question, thank you for asking! and one that I'm sure many also face.

I'm wondering if anyone has any experience in successful strategies in this situation?

Order soda water and lemon away from everyone. It looks like a drink and others may stop pressuring you.
