Really pleased to have found this resource today. Looking forward to a future without stimulants and supporting each other.

Keen to contribute my experiences as I begin my journey.

This is a great looking forum (nice and simple) both on the PC and the phone.

Best wishes everyone

Still going strong. Had all the symptoms of flu the first week and for three-four days could not get out of bed and am now in a must better place. Still struggling with mood-swings and not sleeping soundly at night. Trying to cut down the caffiene and the next step is meditation practice.

Northshoreboy,

I am glad to hear that you are in a much better place, and you seem to be aware of your struggles, and are making changes to improve your quality of life. Meditation can be an amazing tool. All kudos to you, keep reaching out.

Hi north shore boy,

I think we’re in a similar situation.

Hope all is going well, sounds like you’re doing all the right things. Keep up the great work, you’ll be so much happier for it I’m sure.

This is a really hard road we’re travelling down and hearing other people in the same situation is strangely helpful?? Thanks for sharing.

Hi Northshoreboy and regretful29,

Koala_85 here (one of the moderators on the forum). Well done on staying strong through the recovery process. It may feel like a lifetime when you go through withdrawal, however with the right strategies it can certainly make the challenge feel a little easier. (Northshoreboy) > as regretful 29 mentioned, it seems that your doing all the right things in assisting your recovery, keep up the great work! Here is a link on meditation which you both may find useful. https://www.healthdirect.gov.au/meditation

I had a couple of relapses since the first post but have been clean from ICE for 1 month now (last use 6 April). I still need to moderate a few other less risky indulgences I consume that are not as much an issue. But understand substitution is not a real long term solution.

I went on a healing retreat on 10 April to help treat addiction. I did find it very helpful in getting clarity and a sense of higher guidance. The challenging 5-hour experience repeated over 3 nights helped me in getting emotionally associated with the negative consequences of my drug-taking and the emotions that trigger it (Anxiety, financial stress and feeling unloved by my wife). I also realised that I have not been seeking support around me (even though ironically it is always available from so many friends). As I have confessed my situation to many of them (the first one was emotional but got easier with each conversation) and asked for support to these friends the response has been incredibly warm and loving!

Went to my first NA meeting last week, which I also found helpful, and will look at other options also although not yet in a place to commit to the 12 step program as abstaining from everything seems such challenging commitment at this stage.
