There are many ways in which a friendship can be impacted by the journey of substance use and change. For some, recovery may be about healing damaged friendships, for others it may be about needing to let some friends go. For many, it's a combination of both. Or perhaps you're a friend who is upset, hurt or concerned about a friend and their substance use.
Friendships are important, invaluable relationships that can improve all aspects of your life, but they can take work. It's valuable to discuss your concerns, feelings and experiences - especially with those who understand what you're going through. It can be really helpful to get an outside perspective.
Are you experiencing difficulties with any friendships at the moment that you'd like to share?
Or do you have ideas to share about things which have helped (or not helped) in your experience?
Or perhaps you just wish to talk about how grateful you are for your friends' support!
