    Alternative to Alcoholics Anonymous

    Thu May 13, 2021 11:03 am

    Hey guys,

First time posting. I'm getting close to 1 year sober. I've done some counselling (via this site) to set me on the right path, and I attended a dozen or so AA meetings. After a few months of AA I realised it wasn't for me. I was wondering if there was an online or local (Gold Coast) organisation with a similar vibe of support, but a bit less spirituality.

I still feel good about my sobriety, but prefer to keep in touch with others to make sure I can keep it up.

    Thanks!

Hi @dperry586! I'm not in the area, but one group that comes to mind is Smart Recovery who are running online and in-person meetings all over Australia :)

Hey @dperry586 it would be great to know how you went with checking out SMART Recovery and where you're at now?

Another thing you could always try is google searching "Peer Support Groups" in your area.

All the best and hope you're doing well! :)
