So nice to ready your gratitude list @Starlee, I can't imagine how much strength it must take to be there for your little ones, get all of you into a safe situation and be starting from scratch again. All I can say is that your kids are very lucky to have you!

    Today I'm grateful for..

    - I know I say this one a lot but my dad, he is so so supportive and always there when I really need him

    - Having such a supportive and loving partner

    - Being able to reach a place of genuine calm and peace after a very stressful situation

@Lhiver @ScorpionPW the moment I left, amongst the emotions etc. I was relieved. I had to leave suddenly and work paid for a weeks emergency accomodation so I had one week to sort my life out and find a rental. With help from family, friends & work I was in a rental within two weeks.

We have the bare essentials and live week to week… but we are HAPPY. We have food on the table, a roof over our heads and have what we need.

We each have our own triggers but we are all able to talk about them openly. Our not so good days are far and few in-between now.

The kids were the ones who kept up the fight when I first left as they were scared we’d go back. I still support their relationship with their dad and don’t talk badly about him to them, but they’ve made up their own minds. It’s still really sad to see a man on this path who has all the support of family but can’t admit a problem. They say he must hit rock bottom. I thought he’d hit that place a few times, each time worse but I’m not sure what that looks like for him.

I can only look after myself & kids now as we were falling apart emotionally & mentally.

I can really relate to parts of what you're saying @Starlee, there was a number of years where my sons mother was not well enough to see him at all, and even though I had so much resentment towards her but never said a bad word about her to my son.

To cut a long story short, fast forward and now she has been in recovery for more than 2 years, her and I have been able to build a wonderful co-parenting friendship and my son spends every second weekend with his mum.

Even though it was so so hard doing it on my own through the years, putting my son first and always allowing the door to be open for his mum when she was well enough really paid off.

    Thanks for sharing :)

    Today I'm grateful for...

    - Having a wonderful lunch with two of my friends and colleagues today

    - Being able to be present and supportive for somebody close to me who really needed me

    - Realising some things I can do to readjust and change the way I am responding to stress at the moment

I love how simple your gratitude list is @Cakie181...It's a good reminder that just being in recovery alone and having a stable, safe life is something to be so so grateful for, especially where I've come from and how things could be if I didn't get the help I did when I needed it.

    Today I'm grateful for...

    - Being able to get out in the sunshine and kick the footy with my girlfriend and my son today

    - That I feel at peace and content within myself

    - For my dad checking in with me today
